0713Fuente AguanazSump 1 (first upstream) Dived in May 1995 by Rupert Skorupka. It is 35m long with adepth of about 5m to a large sump pool and passage. Sump 2 Passed by Martyn Holroyd in August 1995 and is now ashallow free dive of about 6m if “pull” line is intact. If not, itcan extend to over 10m. Sump 3Small with sharp projections. Mark Smith made a number ofattempts between 2001 and 2006 to pass this sump, knockingoff projections to make room. Further work by Mark and JimLister in 2017 and 2018 made some progress by knockingoff rock pendants to access an 7mfree air surface with a left handpassage leading off for 3m to a sharp right hand bend wherethe sound of running water could be heard.The following year 5m progress was made after a duck underthe left hand wall. Several rocks were capped to gain another4m, but the choke continued. This needs further work whenwater levels are lower to allow capping. This site has greatpotential as the water has been traced from a number of sinksup to 6km to the south.A dig and choke above the sump with the sound of runningwater is a prospect and the area around this sump needslooking at more closely. West Inlet sump In August 2009, a wet crawl with minimal airspace below theaven in the west passage halfway to sump 1, was pushed byEldon PC to an inlet sump. Not dived. In wet, and possiblynormal weather, the crawl will be flooded. Sarah Jean Inlet sumpsThis major inlet was found by Jim Lister and Dan Hibberts in2017 and pushed for 770m heading west-southwest, passingthrough a small sump and finishing at an over-tight hole upbetween boulders into larger passage. In 2018 and 2019 Jimand Mark Smith pushed the inlet a further 1.5km passinganother 3 sumps. In total there are 8 sumps in the inlet – allupstream. Sump 2b A continuation of a long canal and a comfortabledead straight 2 x 1.5m sump, 15m long with 2.5m maximumdepth. It has a soft mud floor covered in silt with a small flowin normal conditions.The guideline is on the 7mfree right tied off to an eyehole 4m priorto the sump at water level or just beneath in winter.
